Winter Garrison at Fort Loudoun

  • HM 17th Regiment of Infantry with Followers and Civilians (map)

Join us for a frontier garrison event at Fort Loudoun, PA. While the Fort itself was no longer standing during the time of the AWI, the site has several unique features that allow for an ideal garrison event. The fort will be ours for the weekend, though we will most likely have some public visitation.

Throughout the day, we will recreate daily life of a unit in garrison, perfect drill and maneuvers, and be able to explore the huge site.

We will be able to sleep in the barracks (which retain heat very well and have ample space between the bunks and lofts), cook using the hearths within the barracks, use the bake oven, and other fort amenities.

This weekend is also for learning and honing period skills, such as hearth cooking, using a cobb oven, wood and fire management, etc., while we are not inundated with public interpretation.
